You might need to change that perception then :)

We do have winter in South Africa and it went down till -5 degree last winter in Johannesburg.

Thus, it is usually colder in Cape Town and the winter lasts longer than in Johannesburg.

So you should bring some thick warm clothes if you'd come during winter - June to August.
