Part two of 126th post.
Yay.
No picture will be shown this time.
No worries.
I am just going to untangle my little thoughts in my mind.
So I was watching the interview videos with the candidates of the Miss Universe.
I have realised everyone is speaking in English whether or not they are fluent in English.
Some people have commented on some candidates' English skills, mostly just making fun of accent and wrong grammar.
I then saw an interview video of Miss Spain and she was the only one who actually spoke in her own mother tongue that she is comfortable with.
Then there goes a comment on that, 'At least China tried'.
Hence this person is obviously saying that Miss Spain did not even try to reply the interview in English at all.
But then how does it matter?
She is speaking in the language that she feels the most comfortable to answer the questions in the interview. Thus, she is presenting her nation in the competition, hence emphasizing her cultural identity could be a plus point for her as well.
I do understand that English nowadays is recognised as an international language.
However, that does not mean that everyone should be able to speak English like a native.
I am writing my thoughts in English, but it is not perfect.
Can you say something about that?
It is definitely not my mother tongue or first language.
It has been only 4 years since I started practicing English.
Before laughing at someone's poor level of English, please think back.
Wouldn't learning and talking in a new language be hard for you too?
Dragged from my bloated brain caused by exams and alcohols.
Chaos.
